About BitTorrent:
BitTorrent is an awesome peer2peer filesharing system. It takes advantage of your spare bandwidth. It is a powerful peer2peer application but is not a peer2peer network. BitTorrent has become very popular in the Linux and Windows galaxy. Go to their website and check it out. Microwave instructions will be put on your Desktop during installation. Requires Python 2.2.2 (BeBits App 3393)
BitTorrent is a protocol for distributing files. It identifies content by url and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the web. Its advantage over plain http is that when multiple downloads of the same file happen concurrently, the downloaders upload to each other, making it possible for the file source to support very large numbers of downloaders with only a modest increase in its load.

This is a COMPLETE package that you can also run from the terminal. Seeding a torrent works as well.
THANKS to BGA (Bruno G. Albuquerque) we now have a complete BitTorrent solution. He wrote the GUI with BeThon and it makes downloading .torrents much easier.
This is a GUI to download files available as a "BitTorrent" (see http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent for more info). Basically it is a method called download swarm that, contrary to what usually happens, makes your download *FASTER* when the number of people downloading the same file increases.
INSTALLATION.
Be sure to have the following software packages installed or you *WILL* have problems:
1 - Python 2.2.2 (use the version located at http://www.bebits.com/app/3393 as this one is know to work *AND* includes Bethon).
2 - If you dot use the package above and instead opt for other Python package, be sure you have Bethon installed (http://www.bebits.com/app/1564)
3 - Readline Library (http://www.bebits.com/app/3409). This is not strictly reqired but it looks it won't work if you do not have it installed due to the fact that this app has a C++ wrapper
around it and links to libpython.so.
After installing all the above packages, just double-click the application icon once. This will register it with the MIME database. Now you can simply double click .torrent files or even set it as a helper app for Mozilla.
When it starts, it will ask you for a place to save the file (or directory). Due to the way the BFilePanel works, I had to use an open panel instead of a save panel. The following applies:
1 - If you're starting downloading a file, select a *DIRECTORY* and click the Open button. The BitTorrent file/directory will be saved *INSIDE* the directory you selected.
2 - if you already have a partial downlad and the BitTorrent is a file, select the partial file downloaded and click Open. Download will resume.
3 - If the same as 2 happen but the BitTorrent is actually a directory with files, select the *PARENT* directory of the BitTorrent directory itself. Download will resume.
4 - There are several non-fatal errors:
If the button in the window says "Cancel", it means the program is still running even if it reported an error. There is no need to close it and try again. When there is an unrecoverable error the button changes to "Close". When the download is finished, the button changed to "Finished".
KNOW BUGS.
It crashes on exit sometimes. It seems to be a Bethon problem.
