About Vista Inspirat for BeOS:
This application is similar in functiality to Haiku Deskbar Logo but done more completely and it looks way better.

Created by Mr. X

I was inspired to create this because I was bored of the current Deskbar that came with my BeOS Max installation. I chose to use this one because of its actual size relative to the dimensions of the BeOS deskbar, and it looks very tastefull besides the fact that it has a windows logo with it. The proper names of the parts I modified were the:
kBeLogoBits
R_TeamIcon

The BeLogoBits dimensions are 60x24, as well with the 60x24 TeamIcon.

This is how I created the project:
The source were 32bit jpgs from crystalxp.net , and another place which I had to find the taskbar without and windows running on it. which I then selected out the windows startmenu from the images with ShowImage. I dragged the selection box out with the right click and selected 'Create BBitmap Image clipping' and then drag it to the Desktop. The tool used to modify the Deskbar was QuickRes. When you go to drag the Bitmap Clip into the image editing window of QuickRes, you must make sure that the Width and Height are the same or larger than the Clipping you are dragging. This can be found out by loading the clipping in ImageViewer. I had to change the Color into B_RGBA32. The format has to be Archived Bitmap, or the Deskbar will not load. I took part of the windows start menu button and the rest of the bar. Then I made sure to cut 60 pixels horizontally from the left to the right of the start menu button. Then I cut 60 pixels from the end of the part before, and the rest would make the Team Icon. Now both combined blend in smoothly to create a finished look.
The only problem I found, is when selecting the BeLogoBits is that a thin line of white pixels to the right will form. I could not find a way around this, and I am sure it is just the way the deskbar functions. To remove the white line all that needs to be done is press the BeLogoBits again, or press the TeamIcon.

This is how I created the installer:
Already made was an app that modified the Deskbar very easily, Haiku Deskbar Logo http://bebits.com/app/3902. I learned from this and modified my own to work the same way.
First thing was to open the pkg file with Package Builder. I extracted those contents and then opened the rsrc file named 'haiku'.
I merged this file (from withing QuickRes, File-Merge From…) with the Deskbar which I was working on. I then deleted the un-wanted parts that got merged and kept the ones that we want to modify from. I also had to change the ID of the kBeLogoBits as there was the haikulogo there before, and it was bumped up one more number place. I then began to modify the installer scripts. I modified the Destinations to all go into B_COMMON_TEMP_DIRECTORY, because you don't need the installer rsrc file to be in your settings folder. I also removed the sleep 1, to speed installation.

Message to the user:
The deskbar must be in any of these locations to have the intended effect:
B_DESKBAR_LEFT_BOTTOM, B_DESKBAR_RIGHT_BOTTOM, B_DESKBAR_RIGHT_TOP, B_DESKBAR_LEFT_TOP
The program used was 'deskbar' http://bebits.com/app/3301 the command used was 'deskbar --location' .
To move the deskbar, grap the edge part with the perforations/light colored dots on it. When clicked it highlights dark grey and the deskbar can be moved around from there.
