Missing magazine orders and other things |

Some of you have been wondering when you will be receiving your InsideBeOS magazine order. Apparently there was a problem with the post office in Germany where the magazines are being mailed from. Bernd Korz (publisher) has assured us that all of the delayed orders were sent out on Monday the 8th. Given the shipping time from Germany, you should expect to see the magazine on your doorstep sometime within the next eight days or so. If it still has not arrived by then, please contact us.
In the time since our last update there have been a few more additions to the BeBits Store. For the audio folks there is BeSting and the much awaited dBe. Becasso is now online for all you image editors out there. And of course we can't forget Jabber for BeOS which is handy for everyone.
On an unrelated note, the banner advertising market has recently crashed to the ground along with a lot of the .com hype that was fueling it. That means our banner ad is now paying almost nothing. This concerns us very much because the hosting fees for BeBits are being paid for by the income generated by the banner ad. The rates are getting so bad that we're not sure if we will break even this month. One of the main problems is that BeBits has a lower-than-average click rate. That means the advertisers don't want to have their banners show up on BeBits since they think no one will ever click on them or take notice of what they are selling. The amount we get paid per page view has fallen to something like 1/100 of a cent or so. That's not good. The only thing that is likely to turn this around is if we get more people clicking on our ads. So if you have a few seconds to spare why not click one for us? Yes, we all hate those things the same way we hate TV commercials, but unfortunately BeBits still needs them. Of course if sales in the online store were about four times higher we'd make enough from our commissions to get rid of the ads entirely... *hint* :-)
