May 19, 2002:
Some time soon we will be taking our server offline and performing a complete OS upgrade as it is very much in need of one. We have a temporary system currently being setup to take over for BeBits, so, in theory, the site should remain up and running almost as if nothing happened. However, there are bound to be things missing here and there, so please be aware of that and let us know if you discover something critical isn't working.
Given the scale of our upgrade plans, it could be a few days to a week before our old server is reconstructed and ready to go back to work. The machine that will be hosting in the meantime is a single CPU 400Mhz PII instead of the dual 400Mhz PII we use now; so things are likely going to be slow around here until then.
The current plan is to do the switch sunday afternoon (Central USA time). With luck, things will go smoothly and BeBits will be down no longer than the time it takes to swap IP addresses and an ethernet cable. Cross your fingers. :-)
