I really enjoy using this program for the BeOS. It works very well...even though it is slightly awkward at first to find "files" (actually captured HTML pages) in your HOME directory. Once the initial hunting is done, the pages are rendered faithfully. NICE JOB!

Thanks brian! You have "illuminated me". Of course that wasn't my intention to bother the author. But you're right with your suggestions. I will shut my mouth up. (at least until my english get better).

On the assumption that the original author is going to be able to update and extend the app faster than anyone else, I would first try to determine whether they intend to maintain it. If you have found a bug, that's a pretty good way to open the conversation. The author may be willing to fix it, in which case it is fair to assume that they still have interest in supporting it. If you ask about future development, new features, etc., you will probably get a candid answer.
I suggest doing this individually -- the last thing someone who spends countless hours developing software wants is 200 emails asking for their sources. Also, and this is not intended to sound snide or condescending, ~use~ the software for some period of time so you are familiar enough with it to answer some basic questions the author may pose:
1. Have you found bugs?
2. What features would you want added?
3. What would you like to see improved (performance, interface, stability, etc.)?
One last suggestion: contact beunited.org and see if it is on their radar. I was going to write to the author of Pe when I heard he was no longer developing for any platform, but I read that he had donated his sources for Pe to beunited. That was a very kind thing for him to do for the BeOS community and the last thing I wanted to do was irritate him.

Can't we do something about all this nice apps to save them from "the void" of lack of development?
Can't we e-mail the authors "in mass" requesting them to Open the Source if they will not continue to develop those apps?
Of course, all in a nice & polite way, also giving thanks for what they have done.
There are great bits out there (just like charisma) that will be lost if we (no coders, just users) don't do anything.
I hope you understand what i've tried to express, and forgive, please, my broken english.

This is a very nice package. I do hope it does get updated, though. Bummer to see nice apps rusting.

On Dano too! You dialupers out there will love charisma. Much more now that its freeware. I only miss the source code (i don't want this app get to old).
