Re: Resolutions

Make sure the video card does that resolution. IIRC, the G400 doesn't like the *x900 ressos. I put in a G450 and those worked ok (when I had it all running). I'll have to hook my BeOS machine back up to mess. Moved it to another part of the house (new computer room) and haven't hooked it back up yet as I've been too busy with work.

how to setup odd resolution

I have at my mouse a 1440x900 widescreen 19'' LCD display, I tried proposemode but it didnt work. Is there some sort of other way I can get that display resolution?

actually maybe it is NOT worth it?

Direct window apps like quake2 are just a white window. Bugger!

setting to hardware cursor = false works

I noticed lots of flickering in the firefox window... but small price to pay for a mouse cursor to work in each monitor. Right now it is just a pathetic 13inch monitor next to my 15inch. It looks gay, but since I dont have the cash saved up for two matching large sized LCDs that would work perfectly for this! When I got tired of the flickering corsor I could always just connect the LCD to another computer that doesnt have a display hook up as well. Thankyou kancept for helping. You should try to re-make your app again.

oh yeah, and somewhere in the documentation for the Matrox driver docs, it mentions a setting you can change for hardware cursor. Try that also.

Actually, I have used this with a G400, G400MAX, & G450. I had the issue once, early on with a G400, but IIRC it was a WAY earlier version. I fixed it by reflashing the BIOS on the video card itself, which Matrox has great utility for. Musta been early R5 I had that issue. Other than that, no problems. The only aggravation I've found was maximising windows does so across BOTH monitors, so it seems like more mousework. I had a utility that made it only max to one side, but it was alpha quality, so I never released it. Prolly long gone in a reformat somewhere.

no mouse in second monitor

I use MAtrox g400 dual head. USed this app, everything works normally except the mouse cursor does not show in the second monitor. Anyone have the same result?

There are widescreen resolutions if you are using a panel that supports them. 1920 x 1200 is working fine here on a Dell Inspiron laptop.

app features / plans

Hi,

The plan is indeed to update Dualhead Setup when I have some 'spare' time. Some faults have to be removed, and some new features added:
-'custom' sync polarity setup;
-'custom' refreshrates like the Be panel has;
-support for Video TVout modes alongside the already supported Desktop TVout modes (currently functional on the Matrox driver only, but the nVidia driver will get TVout support also later on :).

I'll see if I can seperate refreshrate and sync polarity setup for both heads: the drivers need an extra 'interface' tweak for this to work. But in theory it _can_ be done.

-------

Complete independant setup for all heads will not be possible this way: we need (openBeOS) app_server support for that. The plan is to setup a new branch of the drivers that will support this type of setup later on. These drivers can only be used for multiple heads in a usefull way once app_server support exists.

Setting the modes will nolonger be done with this Dualhead Setup utility on those drivers as the current 'tweak' dualhead support will be removed in them. Instead a rather normal (on the 'prefs panel' <> 'driver interface' level) Screen prefs panel will be enough to do it all.

Rudolf.

Thank you, Thank you!

I have nVidia geforce4ti with dual-view and it works nicely with the new (http://www.bebits.com/app/3636)
vnidia 0.08 driver,

In Windows XP I can
I run my main monitor 17inch(at 1024x768,32bit, 85hz)

And my second monitor 15inch(at 1024x768,32bit,75hz) as my 15inch will not go higher than 75hz

In Beos Max, and Loon's PhOS I have to run 75hz on both or 85hz on only the 17inch monitor.

Is there any chance too code in to have seperate screen rates for each monitor? that would be prefect.

other than that, it works prefect, even when changing desktops it remembers those custom settings! once again thank you.

Dualhead Setup works on G400, G450 _and_ G550

You need this app to use your Matrox card in dualhead or TVout mode. Currently this works on G400-G550 cards.

This app works together with the (open)BeOS Matrox MGA driver also available here at BeBits.

Rudolf.
