Really. This is an experiment I did last night with a friend of mine. I don´t know how to explain it or why, but the idea was to compare the latest Zonealarm Pro with SnortMonitor. My friend tryed to access my computer from Windows with ZoneAlarm, and the firewall told me that somebody was trying to access. My friend was spoofed or something, but Zonealarm did not find the IP. Instead, it told me that "somebody from IP number (sshhh) was trying to access". Really, no IP number, just "sshhh". In the same situation in BeOS, SnortMonitor found the IP, and I even was able to Ping him (he was surprised). Then I went to www.grc.com and tried to compare both. Windows passed it without problems (it a scanner prepared for Win), and when I tried Snortmonitor, it told me that ports FTP and HTTP (the ports enabled at BONE) wre open, and all others closed. A second pass 15 secodns later told me that HTTP and FTP ports that were "open" first, were now stealth, and all others closed. So "everything stealth" or "some stealth but identification possible"?. Maybe this little experiment can help to add features to Snortmonitor (like an automatical refresh every x seconds, for instance, or a smoother way to run it from the beginning). Din´t kno, but hey, what it seems to be really evident is that BeOS safe is not a fairy tale. Not as fairy tale as for Win Zonealarm seems to be at least. =)

the latest Snort is compiled with PostgreSQL 7.2.1 compiled in.
Snort Monitor
I am still developing it. I am trying to add in graphs which is not as easy as i thought. However, it is something i use everyday. In fact as you said lg, for me it is a "must have".
i cant promise a new release date, because i am experimenting with different things. The current version shows you what you need to see.
The next version will just be an evolution of what is already there :) albeit a nice evolution.

snort monitor works on Dan0, but Snort doesn't without a re-compile. That's what i mean on the Snort page when i say "i am not supporting 5.1" which is Dan0.
There is a version of Snort i compiled for Dan0 somewhere on BeShare.

Snortmonitor is a great, great app, really a must have. I am newbie and with a little help I finally got SNORT running. I believe snortmonitor could turn into first step to shut up all those people who says "hey, I feel like chatting, I have to go to windows because theres no Zonealarm for BeOS.
