Had the same problem with a piece of SW I posted - compiling for Dano creates references not found in R5 libraries. Until an update becomes available, d/l source and just build under R5.

Downloaded your driver last night, bought a new monitor and the above card this afternoon.
Booting BeOS or Dano with no driver installed gives me the standard grey screen so I know the standard ATI driver is not involved.
With the driver installed but the OSes boot in colour, the diffirence is in BeOS the Radeon Screen preference crashes but it works in Dano. On top of that if I set up the screens under Dano then copy all the files that refer to screens to my BeOS config folder I can boot with those preferences working under BeOS including workbench spread over two screens.

You're right -- the VESA driver needed to be removed. (For those who had VESA before and installed Radeon without removing VESA - just remove the file /boot/home/config/settings/kernel/drivers/vesa
Now Refresh rates don't 'double' up when I select thru Radeon Screen.
Nice work on the driver :)

First, I'd like to thank for your hard work.
Although in 3.2.8, the display driver works fine, there's some problem with the Radeon Screen.
The link in Preference to Radeon Screen is a dead link. the link should be /boot/apps/Radeon Screen, not /boot/preference/Radeon Screen
Second, when I try to click on the radeon screen in apps, it'd say
Could not open "Radeon Screen"(Missing symbol:
ReadyToLoop__7BLooperPQ27BLopper10loop_sta
te)
Once, again, thanks for your hard work.

So yesterday I tried playing with the driver and recompiling, but you are right, simply changing the PCI-ID won't cut it for the IGP 340M. However, once I get a spare hard drive, I'll load up Be on my desktop computer with a 9700 Pro, and all should be well.
I'll keep my eye on development, but yeah, I understand it's kind of hard/impossible to implement the code necessary for IGP when you don't have any documentation about it.
Thanks in any case, and keep up the good work.

At least for older cards, DVI was reported to work with the old driver. Perhaps I broke DVI support (don't have DVI monitor to test that), so if there is anyone that had a working DVI output but has trouble with the newest driver, please let me now!
In terms of syslog: copy "kernel" from home/config/settings/kernel/driver/sample to home/config/settings/kernel/driver/ and remove the "#" in front of the line containing "syslog_debug_output true". Reboot, and you get a "real" syslog. Thank you.
Regarding IGP: these shared-memory cards seem to incompatible to standard Radeon cards. Adding the PCI-ID doesn't work (I tried that already), something else must be modified in the driver. Currently, I haven't got specs about IGP, so I have no clue what must be done to get IGP working. Sorry.

Hello,
At first, thank you for all your efforts in providing the "Be" Community with drivers for those wonderfull graphic adapters :-).
I was using the Euan's one till your version came out. Yesterday I tried to set up yours in my Max v3 and Max v2.1 edition, none of them worked. I'm using DVI output only, which was plugged at boot time, and a LCD monitor. I removed anything related with VESA settings tjust to be sure... The system seems to boot normally but I only receive a "black screen" (wether DVI is not used or maybe we have a refresh rate problem).
If you need additionnal debug output from me just let me know (using my email address) and I'll do any test you want.
Keep up the good work ! :-)

Yes I previously had a Radeon 9200 (which this driver at that time didn't seem to recognize so was working in VESA mode)...
I thot installing this Radeon driver will over-ride (and completly nullify) the VESA driver... How do i manually remove the VESA driver ?
But the thing is , the refresh rate according to my monitor OSD is 85 Hz but according to the Radeon Screen app is 50 Hz.
Anyhow, the driver works as I'm able to play games like Worms Arma which i previously couldn't play (since VESA/old Radeon driver)...

I recently tried the newest version of the driver 3.2.8 on my Compaq Presario 2170US notebook, and cannot get the video to work. Here is some info about the video:
PCI-ID: 4337
Other Names: ATI Mobility Radeon AGP4x, RS200M AGP
This card uses 64 MB of shared system RAM, as it is IGP.
I took at glance at the source code earlier and didn't see an entry for PCI-ID 4337, so my guess is that it isn't implemented yet. I may take a try at changing the driver around a bit, but then again I may not, as I'm no expert on this.
If I overlooked something and the card is supported, then I apologize in advance.
Thanks.

My refresh rate works pretty much as expected, but at certain rates (namely above 70Hz) I get subtle lines that travel down my screen. Some resolutions, like 72Hz, work perfectly, while 75Hz has the lines. The refresh rates that have this problem also have a slight blur at the edges. Not a big problem because I've found a rate that works perfectly, but interesting still ...
Oh, and Thomas ... I'm not terribly familiar with BeOS' debugging so excuse me if I'm doing something wrong ... but my syslog is empty and I can't provide you with anything to explain my lack of DVI. Do I have to enable logging somehow?
System specs: ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, Viewsonic VP171B LCD.

I have a Radeon 9600 pro card and it works perfectly with this driver (version 3.2.8).
But when i set the Refresh rate to say, 80 Hz the driver apparently applies a much higher rate and my monitor OSD says "Out of frequency". I kept decreasing the refresh rate.. finally at 50 Hz .. my monitor OSD says the refresh rate is 85 Hz.
So i assume i'm running at 85 Hz refresh rate since my monitor OSD says so. But otherwise this driver is quite perfect.

I'm using BeOS Max v2.1 on an nForce2 MB with a 9500Pro card. I was using an old version of this driver - it was very slow. After installing the new driver, I was unable to go to resolutions higher than 640x480, but I remembered reading something about the refresh rate being doubled if a "vesa" file was in /boot/home/config/settings/kernel/drivers. I removed that file, rebooted, then everything worked wonderfully.
Thank you so much for this driver Thomas! You made my day!

Well, unlike nVidia, ATI has shown to be very supportive to alternate OS's. I will send them a nice thank you email, and I definately know what my next card will be (hint - it wont be nVidia). Yes, I installed it, but have to use vesa to get 1024x768x16. With the Radeon driver, I should be able to do at least 1024x768x32 and it should be much faster. The controller is not exactly an M6, but is similar. It can also be configured with settings for an 8500 if I am not mistaken. I think if he just adds the id 4336 to the list of supported cards, it will work.
Thanks.

Hello,
I hope you read these regularly. Anyway, I wonder if you can add the 4336 chip id to the driver. It is based on the M6, and uses shared memory. In Linux, I can use the ati driver when I force the ChipID to be the same as the M6, which your driver supports.
Thank you.

2. Your PC spec.
3. A description of how to accurately recreate the problem (if possible).
