OpenGL

There is no documentation (header files or something like that) published for OpenGL drivers. So even I had enough time to write an OpenGL driver (which I doubt) I wouldn't be able to. Apart from that, HW OpenGL only works on the OpenGL beta, no standard BeOS5 not Dano.

Concerning overlays: the driver doesn't support hardware overlays, as there is no documentation of the driver interface. If anybody knows it, I would be glad to get it and add support.

Support of non-Mobility chips

Though I've only tested the driver on a Radeon Mobility, the driver itself *should* support all kind of Radeon chips. I'm just unable to verify that. I don't know how many people actually have trouble with the original driver (well - there is no real original driver, only betas AFAIK), so I published it just in case someone finds it useful. If it doesn't work, send me your syslog and I'll see what I can do. BTW: I suspect that I messed the installation up some way as I cannot explain why *no* Radeon card seem to work (according to looncraz). So, if it works for you, please tell me (i.e. post it to the Talkback page).

i believe...

that Rage Mobility or Radeon Mobility would have been a better name.. unless you are willing to start adding features and card id's, i suggest you change it!

GL driver interface specs?

Eugenia,

Please let me get this straight (I'm very curious..). You said:

While there are leaked betas floating around, the specs on how to write a GL driver to "talk" to this GL stack was never released.

So this means that there's (indeed) no header file in DANO (or somewhere else) that describes this 'interface'?

Thanks for answering this question.. :-)

Rudolf Cornelissen.

I have an idea..

I have a few Radeon cards here. I took the chance to test them.

Of course.. all mine had the same card IDs, so I did not expect it to work with one and not the other.

CARD ID: 5144
MODEL: All-in-Wonder, 32MB DDR Radeon

This driver did not work with any of these cards.

BUT, considering that the cards all use the same chipset specs, and have just different Card IDDs (based on features), as far as I know, I would assume that simply adding the CARD ID may make this driver work, at least halfway decently, with any Radeon.

My fifteen cents.. ;-)

OpenGL and BeBits drivers

You mean hardware opengl? Of course not!
To have opengl, a simple 28 KB driver is not enough. It requires the gl libraries to be installed OS-wide. And the Be GL stack was never released. While there are leaked betas floating around, the specs on how to write a GL driver to "talk" to this GL stack was never released. Therefore, it is impossible to write a GL driver for the leaked BeOS GL stack, even if you wanted to.

But my question is still pending...

Does it support OpenGL

In addition to Eugenia's question: Does it have OpenGl support ? Thanks

Ati Radeon Graphics Driver?

Does this driver supports the whole range of ATi Radeon, or only the mobile edition? Because if not, the name of the driver given to BeBits is very misleading and it will lead to a lot of headaches for the author and the users.
