the problem are all the libs in Handbrake :(

if CLI was able to build then the gui included wouldn't be a problem and they wouldn't drop support.

As I see it some one need to update the GUI and the they would probably include it again.

I was on the way to update Handbrake but I can't get all the libs to build.

and right now I'm updating our GUI in Transmission with all the new stuff.

What about...

What about... transforming BeOS-Handbrake 0.7.x GUI into "just" a GUI front-end for Handbrake CLI?

Wouldn't that mean less work in mantaining a BeOS version?
Maybe such front-end could be integrated back into HandBrake?

LoLL?

P.S.: LoLL, I might consider a trip to Paris... but only if you can assure that I would be able to find a blond, "strong-chested" girl to exercise my French :D

good, you're ready for a trip in Paris ;-)

This build was made with last 7.x GUI + updated core (ffmpeg, libs...). Don't play a lot with it so i don't know if it runs well... Normally, the progress bar works again.

Spotted this over LoLL's blog [http://ljr.free.fr/blog/index.php/2007/06/09/handbrake-070-remix/]

I'll quote (mind that I barely speak English, let alone Français):

"For those interested, a Handbrake build with the most recent components is available here [http://ljr.free.fr/archives/beos/handbrake/HandBrake-0.7.1-BeOS-test.zip].

This version is a 'test build', not localizable under Zeta. If a Zeta user desires a version with locales, please make a request at beosland *at* fre.fr"

Woot! my first French->English translation :P
[Darn!, he even put a babelfish link for the post, LOL]

Hey beta3 is unstable! 0.70 is OK but where did you put those and the resp versions for zeta etc.? I love handbrake! But I use the HBtest for 1024x576 DVD->XVID Avi rips.
I'm not going to throw away so much rez!

try Dvdrip (http://www.bebits.com/app/3118) : it copies DVD content to disk and you can use the files to a new DVD project (Jaba can do that maybe ?!)...

Handbrake to copy DVD's without re-encoding ?

Is it possible to copy or rip DVD's with handbrake without re-encoding them? Thus making a identical copy?

Thanks it seems to be really great!

The program bud s.@. encoder has the file. You can dowload my version that includes all the files at once, here:
http://www.bebits.com/bob/18681/bud%20s.@.%20Project_all_program+libs.zip
http://www.bebits.com/app/3800

This will be able to handle the mpg1/2

Wow...I have to say this a really great app. In the most Windows-apps you have a million of useless buttons and different settings.
Handbrake is easy to use, it's also quite fast (even it's called handbrake), but pleeeeaaasseee add an mpeg1 and/or 2-decoder!!!
I tryed DVDRip, but it can't convert vob-files located on my harddrive like handbrake does (no dvd-drive on my vaio-subnotebook, so I have to copy the vob-files via network).
Or is there a mpeg4-Player for BeOS which works? VLC crashes whenever I try to play an mpeg4 - I tryed 7.2, 8.4test1 and the latest build from the trunk...

I don't know if this will be helpful in any way but I noticed something weird.
Some DVD's I can't play, all dots on the screen and
interrupted sound. Note other DVD,s plays fine !
Now after a fresh install the unplayable DVD's playing
fine too!? However after installing several progs and
LIBS!!!! I am back to where I started from, I can't play these DVD's again. I can't use handbrake on it either, but in the other fresh install DVD's plays fine and handbrake works fine too on these DVD's.

Could it be some Lib problem? if so which one?

Greetings,

I tried to create an mp4 of "Remember The Titans", but Handbrake could not read/access Title 1. I am going on a trip and tried to convert several of my DVDs to the Hard drive, instead of taking a bunch of DVDs. Moreover, if the DVDs do not have an AUDIO_TS directory, Handbrake fails to get valid titles.

What a great App.
And very friendly:
CPU Killer! Thread(s) walks politely w/minor priority.
I had the chance to compare the App on a Dual G5 w/1,8 GHz Running OS X and a Dual Tualatin PIII w/1,4 GHz running R5.03 Pro. No surprise: the BeOS Version rips same DVD up to 40 - 50% faster, especially when you include more languages & higher mp3 ripping quality.

But I assume the built-in 8xDVD is the Handbrake in the Mac. The x86 System uses a LG GSA4863 16x...

Gonna test Handbrake with the new kernel/App_Server-doped R1 of Zeta, as soon as I got it on a SMP U160SCSI system to see if Handbrake bangs the 60fps barrier....

just wondering...would it be possible, with the new GOCR translator, to parse the subtitle bitmaps of a DVD to text? and in that way save them as .srt or any other subtitle text format? would be a nice feature for this already kick-ass app,

regards,

VLC does play the sound, I don't know what the AC3 means.
