I have had the same problem as you did - the game refused to start with the same error message. ( on BeOS max though). What you should do is get to teh following link
http://libpak.neoni.net/packages/
and download libPak_FULL_user.zip file.
Now it works without a problem.
Cheers

I can't start the game on Zeta RC3. I always get Could not open - Missing symbol libintl_sprintf.
I can't solve this for my own.
But thanks for the great work on this nice game ...

Patch for 0.7-fixed to 0.8?
 By ahwayakchih - Posted on July 3, 2004 - 05:10:45   (#13197)
Current version when comment was posted: 0.7.10
Hi,

I've just tried creating patch.
Problem is that there is no easy way to crate patch for whole directory (PackageBuilder let's me select only files to patch) so i would have to add each of 1804 files to package, one by one... which if course isn't what i would be happy to do ;]
Another way is to create patch for zipped package file, ie. You would launch downloaded patch, it would find the package You downloaded before (0.7-fixed) and "patch" it. Then You could unzip it, and launch installer as it was 0.8 package.
But i'm not sure if it makes sense - "patch" package is 14 MB. And it wouldn't work for people who have only 0.7.pkg.zip (not 0.7-fixed). I could make patch also for them, but that would take another 14 MB on server...
So let me know what You think. If enough people want patch i will make the one for .pkg.zip file. Also write which version You have (0.7 or 0.7-fixed) - maybe i'll make 2 patches, one for 0.7 to 0.7-fixed and other for 0.7-fixed to 0.8.

I will not make patch for any of the test versions (they were downloaded by much less people than "stable" release).

My email can be "reconstructed" from the one existing on BeBits Wesnoth page :)

Regards

re: Could you specify which libs are needed?

SDL, SDL_net, SDL_ttf, SDL_mixer, SDL_image.

SDL_net needs to be patched (use the one from LibPak, or wait for patch to be accepted to CVS).

You can just download LibPak package, unzip it and copy libraries to wesnoth/lib directory :), but if You'll do so, then You also need other libs used by SDL libs (freetype, ogg, vorbis, vorbisfile, smpeg, libz, png, jpeg, tiff... that should be all, but i may have missed something :).

Could you specify which libs are needed?

I can't use libpak easily due to mozilla development and it looks like a nice game to try...

0.7.6 fr BeOS problems
 By ahwayakchih - Posted on May 17, 2004 - 04:32:17   (#12476)
Current version when comment was posted: 0.7.5
Unfortunetly 0.7.6 changed something and now game crashes on BeOS :( Most probably it's because of our outdated GCC version and it's not-so-good exception handling :(
I'll wait for 0.7.7 and see if problem still exist (because i stil hope it's some bug in game ;).

Thanx for working on game

But send THX to authors (or post it on http://forum.wesnoth.org ), because they're responsible for all that greatness :).

Thanks for this update I have been getting into wesnoth recently (blame business trips) and the previous version was somewhat annoying due to the horrendous delays loading saves. The balance and graphics are a huge improvement as well the wesnoth team deserve congrats this is getting to be v playable.

Sorry, i forgot sstream is missing by default. I've uploaded the one i use to Wesnoth's forum (attached it as to the thread about compiling on BeOS) - i got it from "official" gcc 2.95.3 source package.

It looks and plays really good. I can play for a few turns, but then it crashes. This is the last line it the terminal output:
found village with vulnerability:

The binary seems to be stripped of symbols, which is very inconvenient with debugging, so I can't give a stack crawl.

You need zlib

because I forgot to include it, and presumed the shared version would be installed on most people's BeOS machines. Download LibPak or try dev/shard's version.

sounds good, but
