It is working nice here on HAIKU and R5...
I have only a problem to use the German localisation.
I can choose Deutsch in the language tab but it wont change the language to German...

Which one will run with HAIKU?
I tried already the one for R5, but it will not work for me...

Me neither. Probably because I know I'm not :-). These days, everyone could do some good looking images. Drop shadows, gradients and anti-aliasing allows dummies like me to produce GLE (Good Looking Enough) graphics. And WonderBrush is clearly helping them on BeOSes platforms ;-)

Hum, I need to test this. Anyway, I've not that much drop shadows anyway, one per layer. Around 5 layers, it's manageable by hand.
> I'll put the flip option there in any case.

Don't. It's not a blocking issue.
However, having this feature in next version will be cool. Meanwhile, I'll try to figure out the *other* layer modes ;-) In the process, I may or not translate in french your Button tutorial...

Hey Phillippe, these images look great!! I didn't know you were an artist! Cool.
Anyways, I'm very sorry to have disappointed you with the flip feature. I'll make you one for the next version, ok?
I'm not absolutely sure what happens to the drop shadows when you select all objects on a layer, and flip them by putting -1 into the X Scale text box. Maybe the drop shadows are ignored by the Transform tool. However, technically, transformations work on DropShadows as well, as attested by rotating a Canvas from the Canvas menu. I'll put the flip option there in any case. Should be easy to do... again sorry about that. :-)

Hi Stephan,
I'm looking for a way to flip a canvas horizontally. Any quicker way than negating every drop shadow X offset and flip the output png with ArtPaint?
Anyway, that's my first real attempt to create some graphics with WonderBursh and I found it very great so far. I can't wait to actually learn how to use it efficiently ;-)
PS:

keep obvioulsy an eye on this dog:

As I've started the cat compositing from the dog canvas, I was hoping for a flip function in the end. Stupid me.

Yes, my driver that is included with ZETA supports this tablet. The driver is written for version 3 of the USB driver interface. If you have the R5 USB patches installed, there is a chance that the driver works on R5 too. However, this is not officially supported, since the patches themselves obviously are not official. It is the reason why I didn't publish an R5 version of my driver. When using the original R5 USB manager, the hotplugging worked flaky. That's why I changed the driver to work with the version 3 USB manager. Hope this clears things up... :-)

Hi,
yes, WonderBrush does in fact embed bitmaps into SVG, but no BeOS SVG viewer and not even Wonderbrush itself reads the embedded images when opening an SVG file. If you display the SVG in Adobe SVG Viewer, you should see the image though.
Maybe you were looking for a feature where WonderBrush actually converts a raster image into vector shapes. This is currently not supported at all. I'm sorry.

Thanks for the support.

Does only the zeta driver which does weird things in R5 support this tablet?
I'm looking for an image creation app which has more or less realistic brushes ala Corel Painter which came with the Wacom on CD. I've tried Easel but on R5 the Graphire 4 behaves weirdly (relative coordinates!) and there's no pressure sens.

Hi,
exporting to SVG is not yet creating an icon. I'm assuming you're running ZETA, correct? When you double click the exported SVG file, does the SVG Viewer come up and show you the SVG? If not, maybe the MIME type is not correctly associated with the SVG Viewer. The correct file type for SVG files is "image/svg+xml". But I think I've seen "image/xml+svg" on ZETA. You can fix this in the FileType preflet and by opening the SVG Viewer with the FileTypes Tracker add-on. Anyways, to use the exported file as an icon for something, you need to use the program "IconTool" on the command line. Open a Terminal and type "IconTool --help" and it explaines itself. I realize I ought to make exporting to icons easier in the next version. Please come back here or write me an email if this information is not enough.
Best regards,
-Stephan

Flat Photoshop images (no layers) are supported through a system translator (Becasso has one included, Refraction maybe too). The other formats you mentioned are not supported. I don't plan on supporting any more vector formats besides SVG, after I did the Illustrator export feature, I realized that Illustrator has excellent SVG support and my time on the AI export was pretty much wasted. I think more programs will have decent SVG support soon. I do plan to have much better support for the Photoshop format though. I have an unfinished importer/exporter in the code base... I need to finish that up one of those days.

Hi kraton,
I have no idea what is wrong with your TIFF. It might be the CMYK colorspace, but as far as I know, the TIFF translator requests a conversion to RGBA32 from the underlying tiff library. If you could put your TIFF somewhere on the web, and email me the URL, I could take a look.

Hello stippi, just tried to load a .tif file with bit more than 2MB into Wonderbrush but it crashed. So I tried it with Refraction and ArtPaint crashed to. Only with showImage and Gobe I could manage to load it.
What might be wrong with this file? The CMYK mode inside?
The size is not very unusual. Maybe the resolution of 900dpi? its a 32Bit one.

Wonderbrush use the System default language, so i think you have your System change to french. But you can change the language by hand, go into the Menu "Edit" and there under "Program Settings". Here you disable "Use same language for the system", the second Interace Box.

Hey Kraton,
thank you very much for your kind comment. I hope WonderBrush 1.7 lives up to your expectations. On the one hand, lots of things have changed under the hood, so there is a risk that new bugs are in there. On the other hand, I have fixed some bugs meanwhile, including crashing bugs. After a lot of testing (with the great help of Marcin Konicki, as always, Axel and others) I felt it's time to finally release 1.7. If you do find any bugs, please let me know. Have fun!

Hi,
this is just to confirm that WonderBrush 1.6.1 works fine on ZETA 1.0. The problem with the stroke based tools under ZETA has been fixed by yellowTAB. I'm also working on a new version that already integrates much better with the additional features in ZETA, syncing with the system preferred language being the most important one. The new version will also feature support for Gradients and basic SVG loading.

To make a tutorial about masking would help many people to see the real value of Wonderbrush I think. The Lasso Tool and the Wand tool are only needless tools if you know about using masks and masking. Actualy you can do wonderfull cutouts and composing with Wonderbrush but the most people are used to use the easy Way like a Lasso or Wand tool. If you explain and or do a Tutorial about that would be very nice since I think the people still dont know about this very important feature of masking. I by myself have not the time to do a tutorial right now. So anyone who knows about the basic technice will be very much apperiaced to do one for this wonderfull application, which is nativ written for 'BeOs' and about that my favorite in speed and stability. I for myself dont need a window look and feel app like pixel which is written in Free Pascal and very, very buggy and not of use for real serious work. If you look for a serious stable picture manipulating and correcting application, Wonderbrush is the first Choice.

Hi,
there is no classical "selection" tool in WonderBrush. Any group of Objects can be selected by (shift/cmd) clicking on the objects entry in the Object list. There is also a "Copy" tool with which one can define a rectangular area of the canvas, that will be copied to the system clipboard as a flat bitmap. This can be pasted as a bitmap object back onto the canvas (using Edit->Paste).
Something like the classical Select tool (magic wand) can be emulated in WonderBrush, for example using the Fill tool, then moving the Fill object onto a new layer (copy + paste in Object list), and setting that layers Mode to "Alpha" to use it as a mask. A similar thing can be done using the Shape tool or any other tool. Maybe I should put up a tutorial about this stuff.
Best regards,
-Stephan
P.S. To make the BeBits TalkBack system more useful, please use meaningful subjects. Many questions are asked in an ambiguous way too. But the sense in the TalkBack is also for others to look if a question has been answered already, so let's make that easier.

I agree that saving native files and the export formats could be integrated in the same file panel - "WonderBrush image" could be just another option among the available export formats. The separation might look confusing at first, but there is a good reason for it: In many usage scenarios, you're working on some graphics that is going to be something else than a WonderBrush image when it's done, while you still enjoy having the features of the native format available should you need to change something. So you want to have both at the same time. It can be especially convenient, to have both at the same time *while* working on the document. And that's what the separation lets you do. You can save a native WonderBrush image into file a, and save the final format, like a PNG for a webpage, into file b. While the document is still open in WonderBrush, you can invoke "Save" and it will save a native project into file a, and when you invoke "Export", WonderBrush will save a PNG into file b (it associates two files with a document). That way you don't have to go into the file panel(s) anymore, and you're still able to keep both files up to date.
Best regards,
-Stephan

Maybe You used "Save as" menu item instead of "Export"?
"Save" is for saving project in WonderBrush format (no information is lost, and opening it in WonderBrush later will show the same thing You saw when saving).
"Export" is for exporting image to other formats (some information may be lost, depending on format - most formats will generate "flattened" image, ie. there will be no layers, objects and properties saved, just bitmap of what You can see on canvas at export time, so a bit like making screenshot, just with support for alpha channel :).
