There is much hope indeed. Broadcom (no nVidia, thank god) uses a platform-abstraction layer in their drivers. In porting the 440x driver to BeOS, I simply implemented the abstraction layer. It seems that the 57xx driver (I just downloaded the source) uses exactly the same abstraction layer, with the addition of one or two additional (and trivial to implement) routines. I think it would take about an hour to expand support to the 57xx. However, I have no such card. I may try to do the port regardless, and I could have you test it, but it would be a pain. We'll see.

Could you try renaming the broadcom440x add-on in /boot/home/config/add-ons/net_server to broadcom?

Mine isn't seen either using net_server. If there's anything I can look more that might help troubleshoot let me know. Be cool to get the onboard networking of my Asus board working. Right now I use my trusty Realtek PCI card.

I don't have an Intel box with net_server to do this. I don't know why it isn't working, but I'm afraid I'm unable to fix it at the moment. I'll try to get a fix soon.

Good news !
I bought an ASUS PUNDIT yesterday and the mobo ETH port is a broadcom 440x ! I will try BeOS on it if Sis chipset does not provide any problem....
