I've verified with a friend that the download indeed works, albeit not for me, so it must be something on my end. Sorry!

sure...

It seems, at least from my location, the file is unavailable for the last three days:

The connection has timed out:

The server at dl.hirschkaefer.de is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

Pinging the dl subdomain times out, whereas pinging hirschkaefer.de returns data, and the website works...

Re: Haikuware, it's a repository for BeOS/Haikuware software centralized at one location. You may notice that 30-40% of the files on here are gone because they all link to people's personal servers, that they have forgotten about, or moved etc.

Care to elaborate on that cryptic message of yours?

*What* link is supposedly dead already?

And what's got haikuware to do with it?

cheers,
Oliver

Just wondering if there is anyone working on php/html/js plug-in for pe. Just curious if pe's functionality would be catching up to say Crimson Editor (For Windows). It would be nice to move back to pe and Be for design work.

Issues with listed version

I downloaded the version listed on this page and I've been using it for a few weeks now. It's solved one problem for me (Pe crashed if I openened a Pe project file by double-clicking before opening Pe itself), but I've run into a couple of other small issues:

- the first time I ran this version, CPU usage spiked to 100% and stayed that way for about 30 seconds, after which it returned to normal and Pe started. I thought it was hung and killed it the first couple of times, before leaving it long enough to launch. After the first time, it's launched normally every other time, just a little strange.

- When I create a new document, the window that pops up is very horizontally narrow and needs to be resized. Is there any user-configurable way to change the size of the window when you create a new file?

And one suggestion:
It would be nice if the prefix lines extension remembered the values you enter.

Thanks a lot for setting up the wiki-page and providing a template!

I have added a few tips of my own and I will post a message to the list asking for more contributions...

cheers,
Oliver

I wrote a Ruby extension for Pe a couple of months ago and sent mail to the developers asking if they wanted it (not very clean) and never heard back. :/ Now I lost my extension code, and the instructions on how to create a new extension. Anyone care to add that to the Wiki?

Thanks!

Mike

A wiki is a cool idea. It's just that I personally neither have the time nor the knowledge to set it up.

I'd be glad to enter my "tips" once we have it, though :o)

cheers,
Oliver

Well, it seems Pe is very nice (when you've learned to tweak it). So how about either a homepage or wiki with tips for us beginners :)

I sit corrected. ;)

I'm glad that you are the official maintainer then. I think it would behoove everyone if the other entries on BeBits were taken down, since yours is the latest, updated entry.

My sincere apologies for sounding like I was about to rant. :)

Yes, and I *did* look for existing entries. There are two. What do I do about them? Do I send in pleas to remove other entries to BeBits?

Things worked magicall when I added pcre recently, the other entries disappeared very fast (by the work of some moderator, I suppose).

I have, and actually, I am the official caretaker (maintainer) of this very project, which is hosted at beunited.org.
Please get your information together before clicking that "Submit"-button >;o)

More to the point: I did contact BeUnited only to find that they didn't know anything about this Pe-entry at BeBits and they seemed unable to track who has been responsible for setting it up. Team Pe has waited some weeks and then we decided to put up this new entry.

It seems that they are the real development team

Before you go ranting and raving Technix, did you bother to notice that they are the real development team? Calm down just a bit, and stop making a jerk of yourself all the way across the community.

Duplication!

Ok, this has to stop.

Now there are three entries for Pe, from three different sources, for three different versions.

See: http://www.bebits.com/search?search=Pe&x=0&y=0

It would be extremely helpful to BeBits if authors searched for existing entries before adding their own.

At least contact BeUnited, since they are the official caretaker of the project.

See: http://news.beosjournal.org/?id=483

Thanks.
