This is a GREAT! implementation.

This is so clean, and so much the BeOS way!
I looked at this project a few weeks ago on www.iscomputeron.com - but did not get the entire idea of the great IM implementation this is. I am impressed and happy to see this happening!

Keep up your great work!

MSN troubles

Seems like there's a few bugs in the MSN add-on that causes crashes if you send/receive messages to/from contacts not on your MSN list. Working on it now, should be fixed in a little while.

libicon.so has been removed in Zeta RC3, and since I don't have RC3 yet I haven't been able to look into it too much. A simple 'fix' would be to use the R5 version of the Kit until we've figured it out and fixed it. Not sure if it's possible to make a single Zeta package or if we'll have to make one for RC3 and one for pre-RC3, but it'll be fixed one way or another..

Until then, fetch the R5 Base package. Should run just fine on Zeta, there are only minor differences with how icons are read and such.

I presume you mean that MSN isn't showing up in the protocol menu (Right click on the Deskbar Icon, select Status), or in the Preferences application?

Have you got OpenSSL installed? You need to have the latest version, 0.9.7d. You can either get it from BeBits (Peter Moore's package), or get the "Support Libs" package. Also, note the uh... note, that m_eiman makes in the general description;
"Also, when installing, get and install the two .pkg files first, then get and unzip the zip and run the included Install.sh. If you don't do things in the right order, you might not be able to load the protocols until you've installed the libs and restarted im_server"

Even though I'm not a messenging person, this is a beautiful solution for one which has plagued other platforms for ages - namely, the 25 different programs to access messenger/chat buddies. None of them share data or GUI or settings or anything like this concept allows for.

A classic example of doing something right. Well done everyone!!!!!!

For the first time, this week I may need to use an IM program other than MSN. And here you are. I keep thinking I got to BeOS just in time.
