Help needed for my card

Hi,
I use Zeta 1.21 and can connect to my WEP stuff without problems, but as soon as I enter any address, Zeta disconnects and cannot reconnect to the network. Works fine in the open. I installed this and same results, can somebody help me? Could it be caused by the issue described here?

Thank you for that info, Philippe. I finally got around to contacting the developer. He sent me a new driver and firmware, and it works great. In fact, I'm using it to type this right now.

It seems your card is the newest Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG MiniPCI Adapter.
It's supposed to be backward compatible with older versions, in particular the device ID 4220.
Did you try to contact the BeOS driver author to ask him if he can add support for this device ID?
Otherwise, patching the binary file so he recognize 4223 as a 4220 can be an option, but it's not for the faint heart...

I have an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 card, but I can't get BeOS to recognize it. It seems that my card's device id is 8086:4223, while the driver looks for 8086:4220. Does anyone know how I could get the driver to accept my card?

I'd suspect that as well.
I've always had problems with this driver under BeOS. I even switched router now to Apple Airport Extreme, but it's even harder to get it to connect under BeOS.

Works great under Windows though.

Works, but ...

Recently I installed R5 again, just to play around with it a little. Usually I use ZETA.
In ZETA wifi works great, although a little unstable once in a while, using its ndis driver for wifi.

I installed the driver under R5 exactly like described in the (really great!) manual in the package.

This driver works great in a range of 5m around my router. So I could also just plug a cable in...

Maybe this driver causes the card to work on a very low power?

Nevertheless, great work so far!

Das Jott

Hey, I'm very happy to see this driver and it works (usually...) on my system. I'd like to have a more userfriendly way to interface with it. If you would like an interface developed let me know about hooks in the code that would support that, or maybe access to the source so that I cn work on it.

Thanks!

I followed the direction exactly and it came up just fine w/ 128bit encrypt. Using a WRT54GP2(Besy buy vonage router w/ a phone line). Have to be fairly close though or i loose signal for some reason. Is there an option in the properties to increase mW ?

I'd like to second pmvn. I'd be happy to invest into this to get 802.11 b/g PCI/USB working.

Thanks.

Hi Patrick, I wondered what is for you a reasonable amount to get you going for a 802.11 G PCI/USB driver?

Thanks

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 600m with the internal Intel 2200bg wireless, and it seems to be working great so far.

I was having trouble getting WEP working. But once I tried warm booting from Windows into BeOS, everything magically started working.

Thanks for the excellent work on the driver.

This driver works fine for me on the gateway 3520,
which has integrated intel 2200. It was necessary
to install the firmware, after which I had no
problems on my net server beos. I am using DHCP
to get IP, DNS, etc. from my wireless router.
Another win for patrick!

Keep up your great projects!

Update test with 0.5 version but same problems.

I tried also to remove media_server in bootscript and now beos stops to hang. But Wifi isn't useable (i desactivate any security to avoid a configuration problem). It seems there's still an IRQ problem :
KERN 'idle thread 1'[1]: wm3b2200bg: device_interrupt_notification scan complete type 0x0e count 14 status 0x01
KERN 'ifconfig'[281]: wm3b2200bg: scan complete

The device uses IRQ11 with VGA,SOUND,USBx4,ETH (bcm440x)....

Hi Patrick,

just tried your driver under Zeta Neo. I got also a Acer wlmi 4002. I found out that ifconfig doesn´t show the MAC adress of the card. After a restart, I got also in KDL with the message about an not return IRQ (AFAIK) in thread ifconfig. Maybe your timeout for reading out the MAC-No. is to large? If you could use it, I´ll make a picture of the stacktrace for you and mail it to you.

Greetings,
Chris

KDL with Dell 8600C

Hi Patrick,

I'm back with a new portable and i try to use the Intel 2200 pci card included. But in vain. It goes in kdl when media server starts (i think, the sounds should play the beos start wav at this time).

Any idea ?

KDL as well

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the driver, but unfortunately it took me to KDL as Neo was booting. I don't have a pic of it though, I might take one with my camera later today and send it to you.

This happens on my Acer 4002WLMi with the Intel 2200BG mini-pci. I'm at work so can't check the device/vendor ID atm. For now i'm using the laptop wired connected to the cable modem but hopefully later this week i'm getting a Linksys wireless router, so I'm hoping i'll be able to use your driver, sooner or later :)

Take care,
DaaT

KDL, more info

I have a 'screen shot' of the KDL if you would like it. I had though that it was failing perhaps because I didn't install the firmware files, but this was not the case, I got the KDL anyway.

The kdl starts with user_ioctl, and ends with device_open.

Anyway, if you want, email me (voidref@gmail.com) and I will send you the screen shot (it's about 970 kb).

I tried this driver on my Sony A series laptop, and get a KDL as soon as ifconfig tries to 'up' the interface. This is on Zeta, is this a known problem, or is there some data I can give to help out?

Thanks!
Alan

Thanks a lot for this driver; Very importent thing cause many NBs have this standard. Mine got the older Intel® PRO/Wireless LAN 2100. This doesen't work :-(. I like a newser NB for using WLAN on BeOS.

Thanks Nils
