Hi,
Don't worry!
Windowed rendering is no problem at all: True, it cost me relatively a lot of time just getting to know BGLView's window stuff, but I got it under control now I think.
This is nolonger going to cost me extra time: I'll just put in triple buffering in a next release: that will make it truly optimal as far as is possible.
TRouble remaining might be some drawing parts left behind OUTSIDE of a window rendering GL, but that's just a 'minor' thing. It doesn't concern our core want-to-have's at this time, I'd say :-)
Anyway, apps that are really 'serious' work in direct mode which works fully OK (With two workarounds).
Hope this stuff helps a bit :)
Rudolf.

I love this driver!
It boosted the Teapot from 120 up to 250fps! I tested with a GF 2 Ti and 3500+.
Fantastic!

Cool, so the driver is so far still truly unified ;) I was just thinking... since the most demanding GL apps ( == games) use mostly fullscreen anyways, would it technically viable, as a workaround to have some sort of wrapper GL library that would somehow magically revert to original software rendering when not in full screen? I am not really familiar with how and when GL views are initialized, I'm just curious, because I've got a feeling from your blog that windowed views are problematic by design. But otherwise, keep up the good work! This rocks!

Hi,
glad it's working over there :-)
The tiles and garbage is because the driver can't scale yet. (The original utahGLX couldn't either).
I'll try to get that working later on of course: but for now it's "intended behaviour". Sorry about that..
So: all seems to be OK on your system so far I'd say.
Best regards,
Rudolf.

Hi, I've just installed the new drivers and libs - it works on my GeForce2 MX 400 + R5. I get about 140 fps with GLTeapot, but when I resize the window there is a strange "tiles" effect. Multiple displays of the original size, repeated horizontally, each with 80 bps, under that strip, the rest of the view is filled with what looks like frame buffer garbage (jagged black&white strips)... but ok for starters!

That's probably true.
OTOH: I don't know. I just needed to recompile to get it running on R5. Maybe someone else knowns. Or, maybe I was mistaken somehow...
Anyway: I consider myself still a beginner. If you look at the sources you might agree ;-)
