I'm at loss and would greatly appreciate som assistance in finding the valid voltage/frequency values for an Xeon 533 fsb 2.4 Ghz 512 kb L2 (SL6YN). I think I found its spec-sheet but I can't find the info I'm looking for. http://download.intel.com/design/Xeon/datashts/25213506.pdf

I have forget to add : speedsep is good if temperature is important (hot cpu) i read in intel documentation cpu avec a termal sensor ! can you add to the driver the termal information ? that's an other way to lower or faster the cpu !! regards.

ok processor find !

Ok thx oco i have find the processor (Pentium M 715A)
but other question, the speedstep function is use to save energy ?
that's great to develop a tool that up or down the freq and voltage with the processor usage ! or a tool to fix it but by GUI (an icon in deskbar :)

Regards, great app !
PS : when you change the freq and voltage that not change in the about of BeOS !!

The timer problem (if any) can be avoided : the processor state must be changed early in the boot process. Then, cpu_fix (http://bebits.com/app/3999) should fix remaining problems. This is not really dynamic as the processor state is chosen at boot time, but it can save power when needed.

I use this approach on my AMD 64 laptop. My driver only work on my Acer Aspire 1513 LMI, as i used a hack to retrieve supported power states from the BIOS instead of tables. It does not work on the two others machines tested (like ljr's one).

I should use ACPI to retrieve this information and provide a more usable driver.

@Beos : PowerNow! on Athlon XP M is different from PowerNow! on Athlon 64 (but documentations are available from AMD for both).

I don't think you do anything to correct the timer calibration, do you ?
Of course it works, but you could do htat way before with APM, except nobody did that because it fscks up the clock.

next step : cool'n quiet ;-)

Hi,

Great work!!

I would like to know if this driver includes support for processors other than the Centrino (like my Pentium III w/ SpeedStep Technology).

If not, do you plan to support those on later releases?

Thanks,
jdf
