Finally, i took the time to prepare a patch and submit it to the freepascal project. This patch is now part of the current development version (trunk).
This package is the result of this work. It contains a binary version of revision 7482. This binary version is necessary to compile the current trunk "out of the box".
This is a work in progress and based on an unstable version of fpc. A lot of bugs are still there (mainly in the BeOS RTL).
Changes
The RTL is almost the one in the previous 2.1 version, with some cleanups. On the compiler side, only one change for BeOS : the compiler now use the internal assembler under BeOS instead of "as". This result in much faster compilation.

Got the following from SF.net this morning (being the project admin)
Greetings,
You are receiving this mail because you are a project admin for
a SourceForge.net-hosted project. One of our primary services,
CVS, suffered a series of interrelated, critical hardware failures
in recent weeks. We understand how frustrating this CVS outage
must be to you and your users; however, our top priority remains
preservation of the integrity of your data.
The series of CVS hardware failures prompted us to expedite the
deployment of planed improvements to our CVS infrastructure,
drawing upon much of the knowledge that we gained from our
Subversion deployment. Our improved CVS service architecture,
which we plan to deploy tomorrow afternoon (2006-05-12), will
offer greater performance and stability and will eliminate several
single points of failure.
.....
Summary of changes, effective 2006-05-12:
1. Hostname for CVS service
Old: cvs.sourceforge.net
New: PROJECT_UNIX_NAME.cvs.sourceforge.net
This change will require new working copies to be checked out of all
repositories (so control files in the working copy will point to the
right place). We will be updating the instructions we supply, but
instructions that your team has written within documentation, etc. will
need to be updated.
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/gaim co gaim
would be changed to
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@gaim.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/gaim co gaim

Hmmmm... the CVS for BeFPC is messed up, and has been for ages. I was trying to pull some of my old source from it the other day and it refuses to authenticate even anonymous users.
Have any of the other guys on the team got access still or should I go report the problem to SF? (Did I ever give you guys the project, or am I still the registered keeper?)

... but this release was not intended for so much publicity ! Not yet perfect, so not yet in the official fpc source tree.
Differences with official fpc (svn revision 2039) are now available at sourceforge.
Rafael K : the install script was made by YellowTab (but the Zeta distribution seems to use my binaries and works on R5 too).

I made some work but on very very old fpc in 0.99.x series, then it was merged into fpc repository and maintained by somebody else.
After they released 2.0 they have no maintainer for BeOS version, so it's just not up to date.
However it was very easy to port 2.1.1 snapshot to BeOS and somebody at http://befpc.sf.net did it. Unfortunately they didn't send their patches back to fpc dev team so there will be no more official releases... those befpc guys will need to update it again manually. It would be great if somebody knows them and can actually ask for their patches to be merged to original fpc repository.

I already tried some time ago this version and it seems to work with Zeta, but the install script which creates the config file is missing, however if you know what to do it works.

I could explain excatly the story :
- Pavel Kanzelsberger use and maybe developpe a BeOS version of the FPC compiler (just a port based on the last official FPC compiler done by the FPC team). But he never share it with another people.
- Oco make the port of the FPC 2.x compiler based on the last source of the FPC team and share it to all people who want it ! (we are 3 in the world) !
- Oco,Mervin and I (Baldur) developped then the BeFPC it's the port of the BeOS API to be use with the FPC compiler.
The version who is now on this server and also on YT, come from where ?? would nice to know it !

I think it's Pavel Kanzelsberger from Pixel 32 who've made the BeFpc port.
