...and smooth scaling is working on Haiku Version!
 By hey68you - Posted on March 8, 2010 - 11:41:04   (#23262)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.0.2 beta
Thanks to Divine Inspiration / Intervention and to Stippi's guidance of my CL-Amp cover art display plugin, I was able to refactor the correct part of the yab source code to get smooth scaling to work on the Haiku version of BeDock (written in yab).

I hope to add download details soon.

Happy Haiku'ing to all,
hey68you

New Haiku Working Version Coming Soon!
 By hey68you - Posted on March 8, 2010 - 09:12:44   (#23261)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.0.2 beta
Everything is working on Haiku after:

1) Fixing yab source code bug (didn't set blending mode so you see white pixels instead of semi-transparent pixels). Thanks to Stippi for solving this.

2) yab version 1.5 was the only version (not older versions) to compile on Haiku but there was a big bug in yab 1.5 source code so that you didn't get mouseMove$ messages - I hacked a fixe for this too!

3) I had my own bug in the BeDock code that BeOS R5 didn't complain about so that the auto-hide function wasn't working nicely.

4) I want to try to hack a little more on the yab source code to see if I can take advantage of Haiku's built-in-to-the-app_server 'smooth scaling' feature so that icons will scale more nicely!

Regards,
hey68you

@brian21 - did you try to run the R5 version on BONE ?

did you try to run the R5 version on BONE ? I think it should work. If not then we have to find someone who has yab running on BONE and ask them to make a 'buildfactory' version of the source code included.

to: atapahs - left most launcher is the be menu - use middle mouse button

Hi atapahs,

The first launcher (the one all the way on the left) is special. When you click it with the left button, it brings up all the items in the /boot/home/config/be folder.

If you want to launch the item that you made the icon for on this first launcher, click it with the middle mouse button - I hope your mouse has one :)

Please let me know if you still have a problem.

Thanks,
hey68you

using on zeta 1.2 seems to be a problem where the left side brings up some folders 2 open instead of launching the app. If I move to the right it is ok anything on the left brings up a bunch of folders to open

The bar is amazing, I have just reinstalled Zeta 1.21 and headed to install you app, cannot live without it. It fits seamlessy in BeOS nice face. It's great.

I forgot to include the README file in ver 1.0.2. I will upload version 1.0.2 again shortly with the readme file.

You can also download the old version 1.0.1 (lower down on the BeDock page) and this should have the read me file.

Thanks and please send me a screenshot when you get it working.

the program is confusing to use, and makes as a good toy but I can't find any real use for it. Anyways once someone figures out how to real transparency and edges within beos it will be good. BTW works on bone.

Nice to see that i am not the only one creating tools in yab :-).

Great work!

For all others: "You have fun to try development in yab?" visit http://www.besly.de and watch for yab development tutorials :-).

hey68you has actually done 5 or so programs in basic ( using YAB ). Great to have him contributing programs.

Nice job.

Try YAB from here; maybe it'll work for you:
http://www.beosmaxfiles.org/

Requires Ncurses to be installed also.

Thank you!

Jan, you did all the real work making it easy to write nice GUI programs for BeOS in BASIC.

This whole thing is really based on your sample code (also check out clear calendar http://www.bebits.com/app/4511.)

by the way, I still never was able to get BuildFactory working on R5 :(

I know I'll sound stupid, but looking for gifs for BeOS usual (McClintok) apps to use is driving me bananas. I know nothing about graphics, and cannot find anything to make the backfront transparent. It would be nice if youwould be so kind as to include some.

Shut Down Problem
 By vercu - Posted on November 29, 2007 - 18:59:17   (#22166)
Current version when comment was posted: 1.0.1 Beta
when shutting down BeOS or Zeta first BeDock will be closed. Shut Down has to be clicked another time. Its the same with Restart.
Clear Calendar shows the same behavior. I have an AMD machine with Max 4 and Zeta 1.21.
Otherwise you have made very nice programs, keep up the good work.

...visual-vice:
when clicking through the tabs in the BeDock:Configure the first tab doesn't go all the way to the back. It stays second in the stack (which should be the "Organize..." tab).

Yes, I know. Nitpicker, but, alas, so it is.

The rest: two thumbs up!

with the hey application installed and SpicyKeys you can now automatically activate the BeDock and pop-up the Start-Menu shelf (simulating the windows key in windows that brings up the start menu). Add the following command as a New SpicyKey:

/boot/home/config/bin/hey BeDock Set the YabSendString =opensesame

Note - I forgot to mention in the ReadMe the following: Because the first launcher on the left will activate the Start-Menu shelf when the left mouse button is clicked, please use the middle mouse button to actually launch the file or folder that you designated to be run with this launcher

Now thats awsome!
